Leonardo,
ünlü Mona Lisa tablosunu 10 yıldan fazla süre yanında taşımış ve ölene kadar da
üzerinde çalışmıştı. Bunu kolay taşınabilen kategorisinde değerlendirip,
portatif sanatın ilk örneği sayabiliriz.
Göçebe
sanatçıları da sürekli yeni yerlere doğru hareket ettikleri için işlerinin
portatif olması gerekmektedir. Kimi katlanabilen, kimi sökülüp takılabilen,
kimi de seyyar işler yapmakta; hatta malzemesini yanında götürüp ya da gittiği
yerden temin edip, mekana göre işini oluşturmaktadır. İnisiyatif sanatçıları
göçebe ruhuyla hareket etmekte, zamana ve mekana göre esnek davranmaktadırlar.
Böylelikle
“Portatif Sanat” tanımı ortaya çıkmakta ve sanatçılara yeni bir yol açmaktadır.
Zorunlulukların doğurduğu bu yapı yeni düşüncelerle desteklenirken, değişik
sorunları da beraberinde getirmektedir.
Sorun
kümelerini birlikte fikir üreterek aşan grup, yeni ve denenmemiş çözümlere
ulaşmaktadır. Bu da farklı açılımları beraberinde getirmekte, yeni ve farklı
malzemelerin değişik formatlarda kullanılmasına yol açmaktadır.

1: Something that can be picked up and carried from one location to another.

Leonardo
had carried his famous Mona Lisa with him for ten years and had worked on it
during this time. This can be considered to fit in the second definition,
“Easily or conveniently can be transported and used elsewhere” and can be
regarded as the first example of portable art.
Since
the immigrant artists move to new places, their works have to be portable. Some
do things that can be folded, some do things that can be mantled and
dismanteled, some do things that can be mobile or some of them even take the
supplies with her/him or obtain these supplies at where s/he goes and provides
a work sutiable to that place. The artists of the inititiave act with the
spirit of an immigrant; they are, timewise and placewise, flexible.
And
hence, they define the terms of “Protable Art” and open a new path for the
artists. While this new structure caused by absolute necessity is being
supported by new ideas, it brings forward new problems of its own.
The
group, sorting out these bundle of problems by brainstorming, achieves brand
new and yet not experienced results. And this provides new expansions, leads to
new and different materials to be used in different formats.
